We’re at table W15A:
…and I’ll be doing a panel moderated by Steve Peters on Sunday at 2:00.
Hope to see you there!
Earlier, I wrote a lengthy, pithy, account of our weekend at S.P.A.C.E, which may or may not have shown up here. And, then, I pushed the wrong button and it disappeared into the ether.
The upshot was: Ger was drawing a sketch of Gerebus late in the day, on April 30th, and then he handed it off to Shelley, while I was gone.
When I came back to sit down at their table, Shel acted very guilty, hiding what she was colouring. I was confused and left to go see Matt Feazell’s table.
At the end of the day, on Sunday, one day before my birthday, Ger said to Shel, “Do you have it?”
I was sitting next to them, and Lenny and Margaret were also at the table.
Shelley said, “Yes, it’s right here,” and presented it to me.
It was a 3 X 5-ish sketch, pencil and ink, that they both, Ger & Shel, had been working on for hours, between requests from other fans.
What they were working on was Gerebus, proffering a cupcake, with a lit candle. AND, the cupcake had sprinkles on it, courtesy of my pseudo-girlfriend (for legal, international purposes, not actually my girlfriend, but I like her a lot, but not in THAT kind of way, Ger), Shelley.
The pencilled, inked, coloured 3 X 5 drawing was my birthday present from them.
I really enjoyed sitting alongside Shel, because she’s just that nice, and she fills in the conversation when Ger is drawing, and she’s smart and holds a conversation well, and, well, gosh-darn-it, she puts up with me long after Ger has had his fill.
BUT. As I have said many, many times, no matter where you are, Gerhard is ALWAYS the nicest guy in the room.
Oh, and Margaret & Lenny were very gracious in allowing me to enjoy their company all weekend. (No words forgotten, and thank you, forever.)
It was a fun con.
Oops! It’s SEILER, with an R at the end. Damn spell-Chech!
