cats continued…

After quite a gap (involving issues of non-payment and having to first catch up on commissions for which I did get paid), I’ve resumed working on Grant Morrison’s ‘smile of the absent cat’ story. I have the scripts for chapters 4 and 5 and am awaiting the final chapter.

Here are the pencils so far for the first 4 pages of chapter 4:

…okay… on to the next 4 pages.

The Pros of Cons

Here’s the best thing about going to all of these conventions:

Meeting fans of the book.

For example, here’s Jon:

He drove from Orlando to Tampa Bay to come to the show.

Here’s the sketch I did for him:

And here is Jon’s wall:

He had scanned the cover of ‘Flight’, printed it out in large banner-type strips

and wall-papered a 4 foot by 7 foot section of a room in his house.

I mean… how frickin’ cool is that?

Thom Trainor Tribute

From a Dragon Con tweet:

“It is with great sadness that we must say goodbye to one of our own, Comics Director and beloved Dragon Con friend, Thom Trainor.

We will miss you very much and wish you a safe journey to your next chapter beyond. Rest In Peace friend.”

There is an “In Memoriam” here.

Thom was the one who invited us to the show and it’s quite a shock that we won’t be seeing him again.

He had asked that I do a Regency Elf commission for him to bring to the show.

Rachel Reeves at Dragon Con has let me know that…

“We have received many requests from artists to do something special on Thom’s behalf… we will be collecting donations at the show of original artwork to auction off during our 2019 show with the proceeds going to the American Heart Association in his honor.”

Here is mt attempt at a Regency Elf for Thom that I will be donating to the show:
